WHY LEADERSHIP MATTERS
The world needs ambitious-yet-disciplined young adults to launch a lifelong journey of mindset growth through regular study and implementation of sound and true leadership knowledge and skills. Leadership is a marathon activity that requires training and time investment for the long haul. Young adults investing in their leadership abilities gain short- and long-term skills that can be utilized in families, communities, churches, companies, and across the country.
HOW IT WORKS
There are nine sequential seasons of the Evolvent Leader Development Series, each including 12 weekly meetings and a couple break weeks. Participation is done remotely via web conferencing following guided reading, peer-to-peer discussions, and internal reflection.
Evolvent focuses on perspective diversification through small group discussions. The peer groups are kept to four to six people to ensure each member has adequate time to participate in the discussions. Each 12-meeting season provides weekly activities to build knowledge, seek examples, practice skills, and look for growth opportunities.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The week begins with a “read-and-ponder” assignment with about 45 minutes of reading, followed by questions cued in email to ponder based on the readings. After the readings, a seasoned “guide on the side” assists in a collaborative and focused peer-to-peer discussion. The group discussion is then followed by look back, look around, look ahead cues via email to build on the topics.
LEADERSHIP MINDSET
Sound and true leadership mindset is about how you think, not what you think. Leadership is not developed in a one-and-done class or an occasional workshop, it evolves over a lifetime. While it begins with the vital first steps, it continues to grow only through the discipline of regular study and implementation.
Evolvent provides an effective structure and setting that supports a change in young adults that prepares them to be future leaders. We blend transformational, deep-rooted learning with executive peer-to-peer group discussions to build on the leadership mindset. With nine sequential, twelve meeting seasons of guided peer-to-peer discussions with thought provoking cues and discussions, the process is evolving at many scales – from a single thought making its rounds in the peer group discussions to the way a participant thinks and how they act as a result of the discussions. Together we are shaping a strong foundation for future leaders to learn and launch into leadership.
